When planning a wedding there are so many things to think about! When we meet with couples they usually come with their list of questions and so we thought we would list some here and answer them!
How long have you been running your photography business?
We started our business in March 2011. We love it just as much as we did then!
How many hours of photography do I need on my wedding day?
The number of hours you need will depend on your wedding and what you want covered. We always recommend at least 8 hours because we find this captures getting ready, ceremony, formals and a little bit of the reception. This tells a pretty complete story of the day! Now if you have events happening later on in the night you may want more time. Again it depends on locations of each shoot and when things are happening throughout your wedding.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes, we are up for going any where! We have shot weddings in Ottawa and even Panama! We go were we are called and wouldn't have it any other way!
If my wedding goes longer then expected will you stay?
Yes, because there are delays and you are not a fortune teller! We will stay an extra 30 min free of charge but after that there is an additional fee. We want to make sure we capture everything you are wanting!
Do you do Shot Lists?
We do shot lists for family and VIP photos but when it comes to bridal party and bride and groom we usually don't. The reasons are as follow:
1. We cannot duplicate photos another photographer took, the photographer who took it may not even be able to do this. We capture moments that sometimes spontaneously happen!
2. We have a different style than that photographer as well!
3. It is very distracting and hard to get the creative juices flowing when you are constantly looking down either at a phone or piece of paper.
It is better to just trust us as your photographers and let us do our thing! If their are special things that you want photographed let us know and we will put our own creative spin on it!
What is your style of photography?
Our style is a mix between photojournalism and posed. During the family formal session we are posing you and your loved ones and do the SAY CHEESWIZZER! BUT we also are capturing what happens in between these posed sessions. Sometimes someone says something that makes everyone laugh and you bet we are getting that! During the Bride and Groom photos are Creating Moments. This means we will ask you to do an action like give a kiss on the cheek. This will create a reaction that could be a smile or even laugh! This is how we capture the personality and who you are as a couple.
How long do we need to set aside for formal photos?
We recommend at least 2 hours. We take 30 min for family, 30-40 min for bridal party and then 50-60 minutes for the bride and groom photos. This allows everyone to feel relaxed and gives us lots of time to work with everyone! Something we recommend is setting aside time close to sunset for photos!
What do we do if it rains on our wedding day?
We always suggest you have a back up spot for photos when it rains but we find that there are always hidden locations around venues that are terrific for photos. Umbrellas are also a good idea so no one gets wet and they make a pretty awesome prop! We have been apart of weddings when it rains and it never stopped us from doing our jobs and doing it well!
What is included in our photography package?
In each package we include a 8x8 Photo Cover Album, a Private Proofing Gallery for you and your guests and a USB, with your names engraved on it, of edited images, housed in a beautiful box!
How soon will we get our wedding photos?
Typically you receive your photos 2-3 months after your wedding. They edited and ready for printing!
Can we take our photos print photos ourselves?
Yes, but we always recommend going through us so you can have higher quality print products that will last.
How many photos will we receive?
There are couple of determining factors. Length of coverage, number of locations, and the wedding itself. We typically give at least 550 photos but usually more!
Why should I do an engagement session?
An engagement session is a terrific way for us to get to know each other and have fun. If you are uncomfortable in front of cameras we strongly encourage you do an engagement session! Engagement session photos can be used for invitations, guestbooks and even decor for your home and your wedding!
When should we book our wedding photography?
Booking us once you have made your final decision is best. We cannot hold dates without a contract and deposit.
